New Year, New Reader: Reading Tracker

I hope your New Year is off to a great start. I am a little late with this but being on time is not my New Year’s Resolution. However, in my latest post, I have challenged myself to read books on my Netgalley and Edelweiss shelves. But, to do that I need to read every day.

Guess what I did….?

I created a Reading Tracker to hold myself accountable. Both digital and printable.

Today, I’m sharing my Reading Tracker with you guys. It is also completely digital too. Or, if you want something tangible print it out.

Why a Reading Tracker?

The reading tracker I created is basically a habit tracker. I want to build the habit of reading every day to meet my goal of reading the books on my Netgalley and Edelweiss shelves.

Essentially this is a simple way to measure whether you did a habit. I have created the easiest process possible, a basic format by displaying the months and days. For example, if you read on 1st, 3rd, and 5th of the month, each of those dates gets an X. As time rolls by, the calendar becomes a record of your reading habit streak.

I have created a digital format that places an X on each day. However, if you prefer something a little more design-oriented, shade in the cells on my reading tracker. You could also use checkmarks or fill your habit tracker with dots.

No matter how you do it, cross-out, checkmark, or shade, the key point is your reading tracker provides immediate evidence that you completed it. Also, showcases that you are making progress.

Of course, that’s not all it does…

The reading tracker is powerful for many reasons.

  1. It creates a visual reminder to act.
  2. It motivates you to continue and not break the streak.
  3. Overall satisfaction of success.

I am still getting used to tracking my reading and other habits. I want this year to be productive and intentional and with the right mechanism in place, I think it will be achievable.

Hopefully, I have convinced you to start using this reading tracker. So let’s start today. Whether you want to track things digitally or physically, we’ve got your back with a free option below.

Happy reading!
