This year, audiobooks completely took over my reading life. At the start of 2025, I had major surgery, and during recovery I didn’t have the energy to sit and read the way I normally do. Listening to audiobooks became the easiest way to stay connected to stories, so that’s what I did.
And it never really stopped.
For years, I never liked audiobooks. I couldn’t focus, and I didn’t think they were for me. But something changed this year. I found myself actually enjoying them, relying on them, and even choosing them over physical books. I’ve listened to more books than I’ve read, which still feels wild to say.
I’ve also DNF’d a few audiobooks—some narrators or styles just didn’t work for me—but that’s part of figuring out what I like.
Overall, 2025 has truly been the year of audiobooks for me. If I found a book I wanted to read, I made sure I had the audiobook so I could actually get through it. I’m glad I finally came around to them.

I feel the same way! I thought I couldn’t pay attention to audiobooks, and in the beginning, I would re-listen to the same chapter at least twice, but by the end of 2025, I actually started liking them. I’m hoping to listen to a lot more this year, and maybe 2026 will be my year of audiobooks 😊.
