March is National Craft Month, the perfect time to get creative and explore new DIY projects! Whether you’re a seasoned crafter or just looking for a fun way to unwind, there’s something satisfying about making something with your own hands. Over the years, I’ve tried several crafts, and today, I want to share a few of my favorites: a DIY accordion photo album, a paper wreath, a faux stained glass project, DIY Mickey Mouse ears, and a sewn zipper pouch.
If you love capturing memories, this DIY accordion photo album is a fun and easy way to store and display your favorite pictures. It’s a great alternative to traditional albums and makes for a thoughtful handmade gift. I can assure you this is a great gift. I made one for my mom this past Christmas. Also, a great library program idea. I used Crafting Cheerfully’s instructions.
A paper wreath is a simple but stunning way to decorate your space. You can customize it for different seasons or occasions by choosing different colors and patterns.
I created my own Mickey Mouse ears as a fun and customizable craft, perfect for when I went to Disney last fall! Whether you want a classic look or a unique theme, making your own ears allows for endless creativity. I followed along and used Aloha Sewing Company’s tutorial and pattern.
A handmade zipper pouch is a practical and stylish project that helps keep small essentials organized. This was my first time working with a zipper, and it was much easier than I thought! Perfect for beginners, this sewing craft lets you experiment with fabrics, patterns, and sizes to create a personalized pouch. I even used an embroidery machine to embroider “GLAM” on mine, which made it feel extra special.
If you’re looking for more craft inspiration, Creativebug is a fantastic resource for DIY enthusiasts. It offers a vast collection of craft tutorials, from sewing and paper crafts to painting and knitting. With step-by-step video lessons taught by expert instructors, you can learn new techniques and take your crafting skills to the next level. Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced crafter, Creativebug has something for everyone! Check with your local library to see if they have access. I’ll link to mine.
Crafting is a great way to relax, express creativity, and even create meaningful gifts for loved ones. Whether you try one of these projects or find a new craft that sparks joy, National Craft Month is the perfect time to get inspired.
